Development, integrated production and sales of high-strength, high-quality bolts, precision machined parts, etc., for the aerospace, automotive and medical markets.

Corporate Philosophy & Message from the President[Company Information]

Corporate PhilosophyWe aim to become the world's leading Fastening Systems Company, develop businesses that span Space, Earth, and People, and contribute to the progress and prosperity of society.

MEIRA Corporation began as a company manufacturing high-strength, high-quality bolts for aircraft.
Bolts as fastening parts have been referred to as "industrial rice," but in Japan in the time of establishment of our company, especially in the aircraft industry, the manufacturing technology for such parts was still immature, and failure of bolts, which were important parts, would not be uncommon around that time.
This caused quite a few airplane accidents.
Such accidents causing loss of life were tragic not just for those who died but also for their families and society, and we sought to somehow avoid such painful accidents.
Driven by this passion to make a difference, our company was established to manufacture bolts of high strength and high quality.
Then, we strove to improve our technical capabilities by investing three times our paid-in capital to introduce state-of-the-art equipment from abroad.
Our founding philosophy of developing and delivering high-quality products to contribute to society has been passed down the generations, and our commitment to development and quality remains our basic guide.

While we started in the aircraft field, we now run businesses in three areas: Space (aerospace), Earth (automotive/general industry), and People (medical).
Our automotive operations expanded with the wave of motorization and now account for 80% of sales. Utilizing the high strength, high quality bolt manufacturing technology we cultivated in the aircraft field, we are experts in the manufacture of bolts for engines and suspension systems, which require high strength and high quality.
We entered the medical field in the 1990s with titanium processing technology we cultivated in the aircraft field.
We deliver products consisting mainly of screw plates for fracture treatment, designed for optimum suitability for Japanese bodies, and incorporating various insights and advice from doctors.
Further, in the aerospace field, we are expanding our offering of products from the screws that date back to our founding to various structural parts, in the broad sense of the term, consisting mainly of machined parts.

In this way, our practice, which has been the development of high-quality products using know-how built over years since our establishment as well as various other endeavors according to the needs of the times, has earned us the trust of our customers and led to business expansion.
Going forward, we will continue to pursue the high-quality manufacturing and development that has been our trademark since our founding, always aiming for new technology, and strive company-wide to provide products that meet the needs of all our customers and the requirements of our time.

MEIRA’s Present and Future

As a Fastening Systems Company

Screws, bolts, and, in a broader sense, fasteners, are products that are difficult to use. Use of an incorrect tightening method may cause loosening or, in the worst case, breakage. Conversely, devising an optimum tightening method can yield very large tightening force. Therefore, rather than just providing fastening products, we aim to contribute more broadly as a "Fastening Systems Company" that proposes solutions to customers, ranging from methods of use and innovations to evaluation. This stance keeps on evolving as we expand our product offering to include structural parts and components in a broad sense.

Domestic Market and Overseas Markets

Shrinking of the domestic market as a result of the declining birthrate and aging population of Japan is a big problem, particularly in the automotive field. Fortunately, we have been able to maintain sales, and thanks to customers expanding their production overseas, our company has also been increasing its ratio of investments abroad. Currently, we have manufacturing plants in the US and Thailand, but as a bolt manufacturer, we need to further enhance our international competitiveness. In Japan, we will strengthen our mother company functions and strive to ensure thorough quality assurance and further collaboration between our development and marketing capabilities. Overseas, we will make aggressive investments and increase production capacity. By clarifying the positioning of our operations in Japan and overseas, our mission is to respond quickly to the requirements of each market as we evolve along with society, and in order to respond to the increasingly fluid world situation, we will work on creating a more flexible corporate culture.

Unlike the automotive field, which is dominated by a global management viewpoint, the aerospace field and medical field are fields where we can focus on the domestic market as our mainstay for the time being.

In the aerospace field, which is characterized by stringent quality assurance requirements, bolts, which launched the company, have given way to machined products as our main product category, accounting for over half of sales in this field. However, the manufacture of fasteners for aircraft requires special processes requiring customer certification such as heat treatment, surface treatment, and non-destructive inspection, and having such capabilities a big advantage. Further, the fact that we have a system that achieves total quality assurance as finished products, just like other fasteners, from partial machining to integrated production, is a major strength. The aerospace industry is expected to double over the next twenty years, and we want to continue growing together with our customers based on these strengths.

In the medical field, we manufacture and sell mainly screws and plates for bone fracture treatment. European and American products that came out before ours did not satisfactorily fit the bones of the Japanese. In response to requests from doctors working in development, we developed uniquely Japanese products. As the number of our products grew, we created a lineup named the MEIRA Plate System. Going forward, we will continue to offer ever better products in line with the primary aim of helping patients and medical professionals.

Contributing to the environment

We are proactively engaging in environmental conservation in all three of our business fields, and we believe that there will be increasingly high demand in this area from the automotive field. As a manufacturer, we must not only make efforts to conserve the environment through energy saving, effective use of water resources, waste reduction and the like at our plants, but also by offering products that are environmentally friendly. Bolts can be made smaller even as their strength increases. The smaller the size of the bolt, the lower the total weight of the automobile, thus improving fuel economy, and further reducing carbon dioxide emissions. The bolt itself is a small part, but a large number of bolts are used in automobiles. Also, increasing the strength of the bolts used for engines, compressors, and the like results in weight reductions for these units. Utilizing the technology for high strength bolts we cultivated in the aerospace field to manufacture automotive bolts with the world's highest strength. We have also developed lightweight aluminum bolts with high strength for the automotive industry. As we move forward, we will continue to actively engage in environmental conservation in line with the wishes of our customers and the demands of our times.
