MEIRA’s pride

Products that fly into space after passing strict reviews by NASA crews and JAXA are the pride of MEIRA.

A single small bolt that is off specification may thwart the success of a rocket launch or have a serious effect on the activities of astronauts.

For this reason, we leave nothing to chance and make thorough checks, repeating tests and evaluations dozens, even hundreds of times, even when delivering a single bolt.

Sometimes, we even conduct workability tests in an environment simulating the weightlessness of a space station, with the tester wearing a space suit.

Our unremitting effort supports the great dreams of humanity.

Space related products

H-2A/B rocket

Fairing separation Notched titanium bolt: Fixes the outer circumference of the fairing that stores the satellite and supply vehicle. When the rocket reaches its orbit, the bolt is broken off, releasing the stored equipment. Hundreds of notched bolts are made under exactly the same conditions, and destruction tests and product inspections are carried out for quality assurance.

Structural Rod Assembly: Used for structural support of rockets.

International Space Station Kibo (JEM)

Extravehicular Activity Bumper Panel Eva Bolt: Fixes the bumper panel that protects the body from meteorites and space debris.
It is designed so that the bolt cannot float out into outer space, and further it is designed to absorb thermal expansion and heat shrinkage.
Moreover, its specifications are such that it cannot cause damage to space suits of astronauts during extravehicular activities.

N-brace assembly for rack fixing: Fixes laboratory racks.

Space Station supply vehicle Kounotori (HTV)

Stud bolt for fixing bumper panel: Its specifications call for it to fix the bumper panel without damaging the solar panels.

Fitting for hanging HTV: Use to hang HTV when loaded in rocket.

Artificial satellite

Preloaded bolt for opening solar paddle: This is a product for fixing the solar paddle of an artificial satellite and deploying it on orbit.

Titanium alloy bolt for structure: Titanium alloy bolt made precisely as a weight reduction structural member used on unmanned spacecraft Hayabusa.

Aircraft related products

MEIRA's products are not limited to bolts and nuts. As Japan’s only domestic rod manufacturer, we are actively working on rod parts used in structural and control systems, and precision machined parts that are to become new MEIRA brands.
Our high-precision products, which tolerances on the order of 1/100 mm or even 1/1000 mm are used on domestic jets and contribute to the safety of the skies.
